B. Special needs and concerns of
mother
7) Danger signs
(a) Bleeding: Inform the OB provider about any
amount of bleeding to determine if there is a problem.
(b) Illness: Any fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headache,
blurred vision, chills
(c) Seizures are usually associated with eclampsia
in pregnancy; preeclampsia, progression of proteinuria, hypertension (and
increase in base pressure of more than 30/15 mmHg), and edema; eclampsia
involves these symptoms accompanied by seizures.
(d) Baby not moving around as usual: It is a good idea
to monitor fetal movement regularly throughout day to get used to normal
fetal activity to aid in awareness if a decrease in activity occurs. The
mother on average detects fetal movements around 16 weeks. Some women with
first pregnancies may feel movement for several weeks without realizing
it is the fetus (They may think it is gas.).
(e) Strong feeling of "Something is not quite right"
(f) Abnormal vaginal discharge: yellow, green, foul
smelling, cheesy
(g) Abdominal pain
(h) Swelling of face or fingers
(i) Severe headaches or blurring vision
