Consult with your doctor regarding the usual amount of formula the infant takes at a meal. Note the expiration date on the can, and do not use if the date has passed. a. Ready to feed: No mixing with water is required. b. Concentrated liquid: Requires mixing with equal parts of water (e.g., one ounce of water mixed with one ounce of formula). c. Powdered mix: Requires mixing with water. Follow the instructions on the package. d. Soy protein formulas: Prepare according to the package instructions; indicated for babies sensitive to cow's milk. These are available in ready to feed, concentrated, or powdered forms. e. Ounce measurements should be made accurately. If a calibrated pitcher is unavailable, use a clean bottle to measure the proper number of ounces of water and formula. |
