9. Procedures and Rationale for the Care of Circumcision a. When changing the diaper, note any blood stains in the diaper or any foul odor so that the physician/practitioner may be informed - per instructions. b. Apply ointment or Vaseline liberally as the client has been instructed by the physician/practitioner. Document the instructions on the Home Health Aide's Plan of Care. Most instructions suggest using a large dab of A&D ointment or Vaseline on the circumcised area of the penis to prevent this sore area from sticking to the diaper and to promote healing. |
