25. The emotional needs of the postpartum woman. a. Rest is necessary, because sleep deprivation decreases the ability to cope with responsibilities. b. Positive reinforcement will support the new mother in feeling that she is doing things the "right" way. c. Knowing that her family is being taken care of will help set the new mothers mind at ease. d. Time with the other children will help the client. e. Entertainment (TV, books, etc.) will relax the postpartum woman. f. Time for parent/infant bonding is very important. g. Having someone to "listen" is also beneficial. |
